Heaven received a new angel when Mary Jo McCollum, age 96, of Louisville passed away at 5:20 am, Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Axiom Gardens of Flora.
She was born on October 14, 1928, in Flora, Illinois the daughter of Arlington and Carrie (Hargraves) Johnson. Mary Jo married Robert W. McCollum on April 8, 1949, in Louisville, Illinois and they shared 53 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 9, 2002.
Mary Jo enjoyed being involved in the community. She was a member of the Louisville Methodist Church and was a member of many organizations over the years including the Louisville Woman's Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Sewing Club, and the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary. She also worked for many years at The Gift Box at the Clay County Hospital. Mary Jo also enjoyed doing new things such as oil painting, ceramics, wreathing, and traveling. She really enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at her home always having several feeders out for them.
