Lawrence D. "Larry" Ames, 83, of West Liberty, Illinois passed away at 2:48 pm, Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his home.
Larry was born on April 5, 1940 in Portland, MI the son of Bud and Elizabeth (Baker) Ames. He married Barbara Wojciechowski on August 4, 1973 in New Jersey and they shared 49 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on July 23, 2023. Larry had worked many different jobs over the years with some including, being a truck driver and working as a greeter at Wal-Mart. Larry loved spending time with his family and at one time he owned and operated a ranch in Bible Grove named Ames Quarter Horse Ranch, he loved to horseback ride, and watching westerns on TV. He was a member of the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Flora.
Larry is survived by his daughter: Audra (Michael) Osborn of West Liberty; 3 grandchildren: Brendan Apke of Effingham, Trevor Apke of Bible Grove, Tearia Goldstein of Effingham; 2 great grandchildren: Ariella and Theodore Goldstein; his mother: Eliza
