Dorothy Mae Carter, 83, of Effingham, Illinois passed away peacefully at 9:32 pm, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on February 27, 1940, in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Clide and Flora Alice (Cambron) Rowan.
Dorothy's journey as a home healthcare provider spanned many years, where she dedicated her life to caring for others with compassion and grace. Her commitment to service was not only evident in her professional endeavors but also in her active membership at the Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life.

Her face would brighten with sheer delight during her visits to the Silk Purse in Effingham, a place that brought her immense joy.
